Norfolk Fire Rescue
Norfolk Fire Rescue has 502 career firefighters who operate out of 14 fire stations to serve a population of 244,000 across 64 square miles, responding to approximately 45,000 incidents each year. The department provides EMS transport, fire protection, prevention, and education services. Norfolk is home to the world’s largest Naval Base, Naval Station Norfolk, which covers an area of 3,400 acres. Formed in 1871, Norfolk Fire Rescue is the third oldest career fire department in the country.
